Fatigue Management
Drivers comply with regulated work and rest hours, ensuring alert and safe operation at all times.
We recognise Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations: safety and compliance are shared responsibilities across the supply chain, not just the driver. That means we manage risks linked to mass and dimension limits, load restraint, speed, fatigue and vehicle standards and we expect our customers and partners to work with us to meet these obligations. Our CoR processes ensure consignments are checked before leaving site and non-compliant loads are not dispatched.
Driver fatigue is one of the biggest safety risks in road freight. We operate to NHVR fatigue rules and use appropriate work/rest scheduling, digital work diaries and accredited fatigue management options where required (Standard Hours / Basic Fatigue Management). Our rostering prioritises safe turnaround times and driver wellbeing and we monitor compliance every day.
All loads are restrained to meet national loading performance standards and the Load Restraint Guide to prevent movement, loss of control and vehicle instability. We perform pre-load checks, use compliant restraint equipment and verify mass and dimension limits to reduce roadside incidents and penalties. Our vehicles are maintained to heavy-vehicle standards and undergo regular pre-trip and statutory inspections.
Our drivers and handlers receive industry-standard training in safe loading, load restraint, manual handling and hazardous-goods awareness where applicable. We run regular drug & alcohol testing, driver coaching and competency checks and all subcontractors must meet our safety and road-compliance requirements before they operate for us.
We maintain a clear incident-response plan: any safety event is reported, investigated and closed out with corrective actions. Regular internal and third-party audits, along with performance KPIs, ensure our systems work in practice. We publish safety outcomes to our leadership team and use learnings to prevent recurrence.
